Airtel Nigeria has restated its dedication to driving its sustainability agenda and enhancing educational access across the country. The telecommunications company emphasized its commitment during a press briefing yesterday, with key executives highlighting efforts in promoting environmental responsibility and supporting education in line with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Speaking at the event, Sam Adeoye, Head of Public Relations at Airtel Nigeria, reiterated the company's focus on energy transition, carbon footprint reduction, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Adeoye acknowledged the unique challenges Africa faces, especially its dependence on oil and gas, but stressed that Airtel remains committed to fostering positive environmental and societal change.

One of Airtel’s most notable projects is its ongoing collaboration with UNICEF, aimed at improving access to education in public schools across Nigeria. Currently, Airtel supports over 1,280 schools, with plans to extend its reach to an additional 300 schools by the end of the financial year. The partnership provides students and teachers with free access to learning platforms such as the Nigerian Learning Platform and Global Africa, all without data charges. The initiative targets reaching two million Nigerian children within five years.
