The institution's alumni executive reported the new measures following a visit to the university management. The alumni executive, led by President Hon Busoye Ogunlade, was briefed by the university's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Adebayo. Prof. Adebayo emphasized that any individual found guilty of drug use would face immediate expulsion or dismissal.
This development comes in the wake of the incident involving Akpo Alex, a 200-level Mechanical Engineering student. The vice-chancellor confirmed that those involved in the incident, including the suspected perpetrators, a porter, and two security personnel accused of rape, are in police custody awaiting legal proceedings.
"The porter of the same hostel where the incident happened is still in police custody. Additionally, the two security personnel reported for rape are scheduled to appear in court today, May 30, 2024," the alumni executive's report stated.
In response to the incident, the university has enhanced campus security by integrating civil defence officers with the existing security team. The administration is also working to raise awareness among students about proper reporting channels to prevent future incidents of vigilante justice.

The alumni executive expressed its commitment to collaborating with the university to maintain a safe and supportive environment for students. "We assured the management that the Alumni as a body would continue working closely with the university to ensure the vision of its establishment is fully realized," the report stated.
The vice-chancellor reiterated that the university has taken significant steps to improve security and monitoring on campus. He encouraged students to report any suspicious activities directly to the vice-chancellor and other management staff to ensure prompt action and maintain a safe academic environment.
