Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, mourns the passing of its esteemed pioneer Pro-Chancellor, Emeritus Professor Ayo Banjo, who passed away on May 24, 2024, at the age of 90. The news of his death was met with profound sadness by the university community, including the chairman of the governing council, Olutoyin Okeowo, and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Adebayo.

Emeritus Professor Banjo, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, played a pivotal role in the establishment and development of ACU. He initially served as the chairman of the university implementation committee before becoming the pioneer Pro-Chancellor. Later, he succeeded Emeritus Professor Oladipo Akinkugbe as the chairman of the University Board of Trustees.
