UNILORIN Hosts 28 Universities from 8 Countries at D8 Network Summit
University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) hosted 28 universities from eight countries at the third D8 Network of Pioneers for Research and Innovation summit, aiming to strengthen international research collaboration.
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) proudly hosted the third summit of the D8 Network of Pioneers for Research and Innovation (D8NPRI) on Monday, November 25, 2024. The summit brought together 28 universities from eight different countries: Nigeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Turkey, and Malaysia.
The event was officially opened by UNILORIN’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole SAN, who addressed the gathering under the theme "Networking and Collaborating for Development." He underscored the importance of collaboration for multi-disciplinary research, which aims to benefit not only the participating universities but also their communities and students.
This summit is part of UNILORIN's ongoing commitment to fostering international partnerships and advancing academic excellence through collaboration. The 28 universities in attendance are now united in efforts to improve research outcomes, leverage emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence and gene editing, and create opportunities for students and faculty exchange.
The summit will conclude with the adoption of the "Ilorin Charter," a framework for the continued success of the D8 Network.
