President Tinubu Explains Why FUHSO Pro-Chancellor Engr. Ohieku Salami Was Sacked

In an issued statement, President Bola Tinubu explained the reasons behind the recent removal of Engr. Ohieku Muhammed Salami, the Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), Benue State. According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Salami's dismissal came after his failure to follow the Ministry of Education's directives, particularly regarding the suspension of the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Innocent Ujah.

The crisis began when the FUHSO Governing Council, led by Salami, suspended Prof. Ujah just weeks before the completion of his tenure. The Ministry of Education swiftly intervened, instructing the council to reinstate the Vice-Chancellor, but Salami reportedly ignored the order, leading to further tension. The presidency revealed that Salami’s refusal to comply with government directives and his subsequent threatening behavior toward ministry officials contributed to the unrest at the university.
