The Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Club which was officially launched at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) on May 29, 2024 is an establishment which follows the initiatives of the AMR Program and The Foundation to Prevent Antibiotic Resistance in Southeast Nigeria, aiming to tackle the pressing global issue of antimicrobial resistance, which poses a significant threat to medical progress.
The launch event featured presentations by Prof. Uche E. Ezeji, the AMR Club’s staff advisor, and other key faculty members from the School of Biological Sciences at FUTO. Discussions focused on the challenges and opportunities in combating AMR, and a commitment was made to advance research and promote responsible use of antibiotics.
The AMR Club at FUTO is dedicated to leading efforts in addressing antibiotic resistance through innovative research and collaboration.Students and faculty are encouraged to join the AMR Club FUTO to contribute to safeguarding public health and ensuring a future free from the dangers of antimicrobial resistance.
