American rap legend Earl Stevens, widely known as E-40, has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Music by Grambling State University (GSU) in Louisiana, United States, showcasing his deep connection to the Historically Black College and University (HBCU).

E-40, who attended GSU for a year in 1986, made headlines in February 2023 when he generously donated $100,000 to the institution. Expressing his pride, E-40 shared on Instagram, "Proud to be in a position to give back to my alma mater @Grambling1901 and invest in the next generation of young talented musicians at the University."

The substantial funds contributed by E-40 were allocated to benefit the Music department, the World Famed Tiger Marching Band, and the maintenance of a newly installed recording studio, as outlined in a statement by the university.
