ARISE News Finance Director, Nduka Moseri, Earns Doctorate in Finance from Babcock University
Nduka Moseri, ARISE Media's Global Divisional Director of Finance, recently earned a Doctorate in Finance from Babcock University. The Delta State native, who is also a Certified Forensic Accountant and certified Information Systems Auditor, has a rich academic background with multiple degrees and professional certifications.
The ARISE Media Global Divisional Director of Finance and former THISDAY Finance Controller, Mr. Nduka Moseri, has been awarded a Doctorate in Finance by Babcock University, Ogun State. The conferment took place during the institution's recent convocation ceremony.
Dr. Moseri, who is currently pursuing training as a Data Scientist, has an extensive academic and professional background. His qualifications include an HND in Accountancy from the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, a BSc in Accounting, and dual Master's degrees in Finance and Business Administration. He is a distinguished Fellow of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, the African Chartered Fraud Examiners, the African Chartered Public Accountants, and the African Chartered Financial Accountants. Additionally, he is a certified Information Systems Auditor from ISACA, USA, and a Certified Forensic Accountant.
The Delta State native from Owa Oyibu dedicated his success to God, his doctoral supervisor, Professor Sunday Ikechukwu Owualah, and his mentor, Prince Nduka Obaigbena. Prof. Owualah praised Moseri's diligence and resilience, noting his commitment to academic excellence despite the demands of his professional career. He described Moseri as a "hardworking, conscientious, and determined" individual who continuously sought to improve and did not shy away from correcting even his supervisor's mistakes during the research process.
Dr. Moseri's doctoral thesis, titled Corporate Earnings: Dividend Payments and Stock Prices Behaviour of Manufacturing Firms Listed in Nigeria, addresses the financial behaviors within Nigeria's manufacturing sector. According to Prof. Owualah, the research contributes significantly to understanding how dividend payments influence shareholder behavior and the economic stability of manufacturing firms. He emphasized that Moseri's findings could be instrumental in enhancing investment practices and long-term financing strategies in Nigeria’s manufacturing industry.
Prof. Owualah also took the opportunity to comment on Nigeria's educational system, highlighting the need for improved remuneration and working conditions for educators. He lamented the emigration of qualified lecturers to countries with better facilities and conditions, calling for urgent reforms to upgrade infrastructure and meet modern educational standards.
