Eze disclosed that the congress had passed resolutions addressing ongoing challenges, including the repeated call for the release of eight months' withheld salaries for 2022 by the Federal Government. Furthermore, the congress urged the UNN management to halt the review of the fifth edition of the university's promotion guidelines, known as the 'yellow book,' citing concerns about stringent conditions that could hinder academic staff promotions.
Addressing the potential financial burden on lecturers with the proposed review, Eze raised concerns that some may be required to pay processing fees of up to $3,000 for article publication, a stark contrast to their monthly salaries.
In response, the beneficiaries, Maryjane and Promise, expressed their gratitude to ASUU's national body and the UNN branch for the scholarship award, emphasizing that the financial support would significantly contribute to their educational pursuits. ASUU reiterated its commitment to ensuring quality education for Nigerian students.
