ATSSSAN Elects New Executives at NCAT Zaria; Comrade Edith Asuke Emerges Chairperson

The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, branch of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) has successfully elected new executive members to pilot the affairs of the union for the next four years. 

The election, which was very keenly contested among the candidates, saw the emergence of Comrade Edith Benjamin Asuke as the union Chairperson. 

The highly elated new Chairperson commended the electoral body for conducting a free, fair, and credible electoral process. 

She assured the members of her sworn commitment to offer a virile and transparent leadership with integrity, probity, and results orientation. 

She appreciated her opponent and predecessor, Comrade Patricia Daniel, for the fair contest. 

She promised to be magnanimous in victory and also build on the solid foundation laid by her predecessors.

The tenure of Comrade Patricia Daniel, she observed, was very impactful and began some very laudable staff welfare drives. 

These, she promised to pursue to their very logical conclusion. 

Comrade Patricia Daniel equally assured the new Chairperson, Comrade Edith Asuke, of her support and guidance to succeed. 

She reiterated to her supporters that the union has spoken very loudly and their choice must be respected and embraced by all well-meaning members.

Prior to her election, Comrade Edith Asuke was the ATSSSAN Assistant Secretary and also a senior administrative officer in the college.

Other members that made the new executive are: Comrade Peter Osagbemi (Vice Chairman); Abubakar Sani Labaran (Secretary); Mohammed Dikko Dewu (Asst. Secretary); Lasisi Olalekan Ismaila (Treasurer); Mahmud Mohammed Zubairu (Auditor); Ja’faru Suleiman (PRO); and Comrade Helen R. Omotowa (Women Leader).

The Rector/CE commended the union for conducting a properly organized campaign and election. 

He enjoined the executives to show restraint and discipline in their management of the assets and responsibilities entrusted to them. 

He urged them to always be guided on the need to maintain industrial harmony in the college. 

While assuring them of his accessibility and support, he wished the executives a very successful tenure devoid of internal rancor and disharmony.
