The event, held on Friday, 1st May, 2026 at the university Convocation Hall, brought together students, faculty members, and invited guests for academic dialogue and community interaction.
The keynote address was delivered by Prince Ademola Adetola of the Tour and Guide Unit, Lagos State House of Assembly. Speaking on the theme “The Role of Youth in Nation Building and Political Participation,” he urged students to actively engage in governance processes, remain politically informed, and contribute constructively to national development.
He stressed that youth involvement remains critical to strengthening democratic institutions and shaping effective governance outcomes.
In attendance were the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences, Professor Grace Evbuomwan; the Director of Operations, Rev. Fr. Dr. Emmanuel Ogundele; and the Department Coordinator, Dr. Dare Akindoyin, alongside other academic staff and students.
The event featured interactive discussions where students expressed views on civic responsibility, leadership, and the role of young people in political transformation.

The programme concluded with a departmental picnic, which provided a relaxed environment for networking and strengthened relationships between students and staff, marking a blend of academic engagement and community building.
