BATN Foundation Awards N6m Grant to Four FUNAAB Graduate Agripreneurs

The BATN Foundation has awarded a total grant of N6 million to four Graduate Agripreneurs from FUNAAB as part of the Phase III culmination of the FUNAAB-BATN Foundation Graduate Agripreneurs Programme.

 The BATN Foundation has announced the award of a grant totaling N6 million to four Graduate Agripreneurs from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), as part of the culmination of Phase III of the FUNAAB-BATN Foundation Graduate Agripreneurs Programme.

The event, which took place on May 23, 2024, at the Lecture Theatre (Auditorium 1) of the College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD) Phase II Building, marked the successful completion of the program's latest phase.

The Graduate Agripreneur Program, a collaborative effort between FUNAAB and BATN Foundation, aims to empower young minds by engaging post-graduate and undergraduate students in agriculture. Through grants, skills development, and mentorship, participants are equipped with the knowledge and resources to excel in the agricultural sector, driving innovation, sustainability, and food security in Nigeria.

Following a rigorous selection process, four outstanding Agripreneurs were awarded grants of N1.5 million each. The recipients include Miss Oluwafunmilayo Adegboyega and Mr. Oluwaseun Akosile for Broiler Production, and Mr. Johnson Fashina and Mr. Oluwayomi Olajide for Catfish Farming.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Kola Adebayo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, and praised the competitive nature of the selection process. He commended BATN Foundation's support, which has expanded the program's beneficiaries to four, and highlighted the importance of fostering entrepreneurial skills among students.

Oludare Odusanya, General Manager of BATN Foundation, emphasized the organization's commitment to supporting promising Agripreneurs who demonstrate exceptional potential and innovative thinking. He expressed confidence that their success would positively impact the agricultural sector and the broader economy.

The panel of judges, comprising university and BATN Foundation officials, lauded the quality of submissions and the talent displayed by FUNAAB students. Notable judges included representatives from the university's Registrar's Office, College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development, College of Plant Science and Crop Production, and College of Environmental Resources Management.
