COREN became a provisional member of the Washington Accord in June 2023, making Nigeria the second African country to join. This membership allows Nigerian engineering graduates to have their qualifications recognized in other member countries.

A two-day training workshop for OBE implementers was held at BUK's Faculty of Engineering to prepare for the accreditation process. The Registrar of COREN, Engr. Professor O.A.U. Uche, emphasized the importance of this initiative in ensuring the quality of engineering education in Nigeria.
