Benue State Government Empowers 10,000 Youth with Digital Skills Training
Benue state government has empowered youths with digital skills training initiative, aimed at equipping young people with essential digital skills.
In a bid to harness the untapped potential of its youth population and prepare them for the competitive global job market, the Benue State Government has initiated a comprehensive training program aimed at equipping young people with essential digital skills.

Speaking to reporters during a training session held in Makurdi on Monday, June 10, 2024, the Lead Consultant, Mr. Jeffrey Udende, emphasized the government's commitment to empowering youth and ensuring their employability in an increasingly digitalized economy.
Mr. Udende emphasized that the training program was not merely focused on imparting knowledge but also aimed at facilitating job opportunities for the trainees upon completion. He affirmed the government's resolve to guarantee employment for all participants at the conclusion of the training.
"All of Benue youths have potentials that can be positively harnessed. We are operating in a digital economy, and the government's initiative goes beyond mere training; it encompasses job placement for those who have completed the program successfully but are yet to secure employment," stated Mr. Udende.

The training initiative targets 10,000 youths, who will undergo both physical and online training sessions. Mr. Udende elaborated on the online component, explaining its necessity for accommodating participants who have undergone the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
Highlighting the unique aspect of the program, Mr. Udende remarked, "The jobs are readily available upon completion of the training. This marks a significant milestone as the Benue State Government becomes the first in Nigeria to train youths specifically for digital ICT skills."
