The Federal University Birnin-Kebbi is set to hold its inaugural convocation ceremony on Saturday, October 12, 2024, where it will confer honorary doctorate degrees on four eminent Nigerians for their significant contributions to various fields.

During a pre-convocation press conference on Wednesday, Vice-Chancellor Professor Muhammad Zaiyan Umar announced that a total of 3,373 graduands from five academic sessions spanning the 2017/2018 to 2021/2022 academic years will receive their degrees. 

Professor Umar highlighted the significance of the ceremony, noting that it coincides with the university’s tenth anniversary, marking a pivotal moment in its history.

The university will honor the following distinguished individuals:

- Alhaji Saidu Usman Dakingari, former Governor of Kebbi State

- Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi, Founder of Oriental Energy Resources Ltd.

- Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of Zinox Group and founder of Konga.com

- Ambassador Abubakar Sani (Makama Sokoto)

These honorees have made tremendous contributions to the growth and transformation of the university.

“I am pleased to announce that we will be graduating a total of 3,373 students, all of whom have been found worthy in character and learning to receive the university’s degree certificates. The graduands will be able to collect their certificates immediately after the ceremony,” Professor Umar stated.

He also urged media partners to help publicize the university’s activities, emphasizing that these new graduates will contribute positively to the global workforce.
