Borno and Kano States Triumph at 40th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition

In a historic showcase of spiritual and academic excellence, Borno State has emerged as the overall winner in the male category of the 2025 National Qur’anic Recitation Competition, hosted in its capital, Maiduguri. The event, marking the milestone 40th edition of the series, concluded on Saturday, December 20, 2025. 

Musa Ahmed Musa from Borno State secured the title of overall male champion, while Hafsat Muhammad Sada from Kano State emerged as the overall winner in the female category. For her remarkable achievement, Sada was awarded a brand-new car and a cash prize of ₦5 million.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum described the successful hosting of the week-long event as a powerful signal of the return of peace and stability to Borno State. "Borno is back, Borno is safe, and Borno is a center for learning and spiritual growth," Zulum stated, emphasizing the state's dual commitment to religious and secular education.
