BUK Vice-Chancellor Farewell Address Highlights Achievements and Transition

Bayero University, Kano, held its 60th Congregation Meeting on April 24, 2025, marking one of the final official appearances of Vice Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas. In his farewell address, Professor Abbas reflected on his tenure, highlighting milestones achieved in staff welfare and development.

He addressed the long-standing issue of stagnation in promotions among non-teaching staff and noted that his administration implemented a policy change allowing them to advance up to Grade Level 15. The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted his administration's investment in staff development, sponsoring 90 staff members for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and extending educational opportunities to junior staff.

Professor Abbas's tenure will end on August 20, 2025, and he has initiated the process for appointing a new Vice Chancellor.
