The Management of the Charkin Maritime Academy has released the approved requirements for admission into any programmes of the institution as well as the admission procedures for the 2023/2024 academic session, Myschoolnews report.

Admission Process & Entry Requirements

Admission is through JAMB:
Entry qualification is the Senior Secondary School Certificate (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB) or GCE Ordinary Level with credit passes in five (5) subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics and Physics plus any other two science subjects obtained in not more than two sittings. (Geography may be accepted as one of the other two science subjects). Candidates must be between 16 and 23 years of age and must be physically, mentally and medically fit and not physically challenged.

National Diploma in Nautical Science

Applicant must possess the senior secondary school examination certificate or its equivalent with credit passes in at least five (5) subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics. Physics and any other two subjects from Geography, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science and Technical Drawing obtained in not more than two sittings.

National Diploma in Marine Engineering

Applicant must possess the senior secondary school examination certificate or its equivalent with credit passes in at least five (5) subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics. Physics and any other two subjects from Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Biology, Agricultural Science obtained in not more than two sittings.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Additional requirements for Nautical Science and Marine Engineering;

Other requirements for admission into all the National Diploma programmes include the following:

  1. Applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 22 years
  2. Must have taken the current JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and met the Academy’s cut - off requirements for the year in question.
  3. Success in post UTME screening.
  4. Success in Academy’s physical and medical fitness tests
