The Nigerian Army has awarded a scholarship worth N2.5 million to Miss Bukar Nana-Fatima, an 18-year-old Islamic Law student from the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), following her selection for the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Special Scholarship.

The scholarship was presented on Thursday in Maiduguri, with an initial cheque of N500,000 handed over for her first academic session. Major General Waidi Shuaibu, the Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), officiated the ceremony, acknowledging Nana-Fatima's outstanding academic potential and resilience.

Shuaibu emphasized that Nana-Fatima would receive N500,000 each academic session for a total of five years, ensuring she can pursue her studies without financial concerns. "This event reflects the Nigerian Army’s commitment to fostering education and offering opportunities to youth, particularly those impacted by insurgency," he stated.

He further highlighted that the COAS scholarship program, which targets academically promising students, is designed to promote peace and support youth development.

In her response, Nana-Fatima expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army for the support and pledged to honor the award through academic excellence.
