DG NYSC Urges Legal Officers to Embrace Technological Innovation

DG NYSC Urges Legal Officers to Embrace Technological Innovation

The National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) has urged legal officers in the scheme to leverage emerging technology, while advocating for fairness and honest justice for every segment of the society.

This sentiment was expressed by the NYSC’s Director General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, at the start of a workshop for the scheme’s legal officers in Abuja, on Monday.

The workshop was themed “Optimizing the Capacity of Legal Officers for Organizational Compliance with Statutory Provisions”.

Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, represented by the Director of Procurement, Chief Chukwu Ogbonaya, encouraged the scheme’s legal officers to gain technical proficiency in their profession to enhance their efficiency. He also reassured that the NYSC Management would persist in supporting the Legal Unit in fulfilling its mandate and would provide the necessary tools to facilitate the performance of all Legal Officers in the Scheme.

In a message to the workshop, the Chief Judge of the FCT, Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf, represented by Justice Njideka Nwosu, portrayed lawyers as champions of human rights, defenders of the underprivileged, and pillars of democracy. He urged the legal officers to uphold ethics and professionalism in the execution of their duties.

The Acting Director of Legal Services, Christopher Ogar, clarified that the workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of the scheme’s legal officers and provide quality legal advice to Management and supervision of the Legal Aid Scheme, among other responsibilities.
