Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad Nasiru of Kogi State University, Kabba, has been appointed as the Supervisor for a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded research project.

Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad Nasiru, Head of the Department of Political Science at Kogi State University, Kabba, has been appointed as the Supervisor for a research project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This significant appointment, made through the Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Studies at Bayero University, Kano, underscores Dr. Ibrahim’s academic standing and expertise.

The research project aims to explore the factors influencing economic and financial decision-making in Northern Nigeria, a region critical to the country’s socio-economic landscape. Dr. Ibrahim’s role as Supervisor will be pivotal in steering the research to produce valuable insights into the behaviors and influences that drive financial decisions in the area.

Dr. Ibrahim is not only a respected academic but also actively involved in several professional organizations. He serves on the editorial board of the Kogi Journal of Politics and is the Kogi State Coordinator for the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP). He is also a member of the Nigeria Political Science Association (NPSA) and currently holds a position on the Governing Council of Kogi State University.

Joining Dr. Ibrahim on the research team are other esteemed lecturers from Kogi State University. Dr. Onsachi Rahimat Oziohu from the Department of Mathematics will serve as the Facilitator for Focus Group Discussions. Additionally, Margaret Adebimpe Umeche from the Department of Physics, alongside Ajayi Oluwaseun Clement and Emmanuel Joshua Anaureyi from the Department of Political Science, will contribute as research assistants.

This appointment marks a significant achievement for Kogi State University, highlighting the institution’s growing influence in critical research areas that have the potential to impact policy and development in Nigeria.
