Eid el-Kabir Message from Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, FULafia VC
Eid el-Kabir Message from Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, FULafia VC
On behalf of the Management of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), I congratulate the Muslim community on the occasion of the 2024 Eid el-Kabir Sallah celebrations.
The Eid el-Kabir is held to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah (SWT) and his readiness to sacrifice his son, Ismail. At the very point of sacrifice, Allah (SWT) replaced Ismail with a ram, which was slaughtered in place of his son. This command from Allah (SWT) was a test of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness and commitment to obey his Lord’s command, without question. Therefore, Eid el- Kabir means the festival of sacrifice.
Thus, on this special occasion, I pray that the sacrifices of the Muslims be handsomely rewarded by Allah (SWT). May the spirits lof sacrifice, cordial neighbourliness and selflessness be our guide as we celebrate this Sallah.

May Allah accept our good deeds and alleviate our sufferings and forgive our transgressions.
I, however, call on the Muslim community to use the occasion to remember the sacrifice and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim to the will of Allah and always submit themselves to the will of the Almighty and in service to humanity.

I urge staff and students to use this period of the Sallah celebrations to preach peace, show love, understanding and tolerance to one another.
Finally, I appeal to Nigerians, irrespective of their religion, to devote their prayers during the Eid el-Kabir festival to Allah (SWT) to bring to an end the numerous social and economic challenges facing our country and restore unity among the citizenry.
May Allah fill our hearts with love, our souls with spirituality, our minds with wisdom and our lives with happiness now and forever.
