Ekiti Association Houston Awards N1.6m to Top JSS3 Students

The President of Ekiti Association Houston, Pastor Bolu Alabi, underscored the commitment of the association to fostering a culture of academic excellence in Ekiti State. Speaking during the first annual prize-giving ceremony in Ado Ekiti, Alabi expressed the association's dedication to encouraging younger generations, emphasizing the importance of academic achievement and healthy competition.
The ceremony, held on Saturday, saw the distribution of a total sum of N1.6m among the 32 best JSS3 students in the state. The initiative aims to motivate students to strive for excellence and ensure they reach their full potential. Pastor Bolu Alabi commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his commendable efforts across various sectors, particularly in education.

As part of their broader contribution to the state's development, the US-based association's president highlighted their desire to recognize and reward academic prowess. The award, given to students currently in SSS1, is the first step in what the association envisions as an annual tradition. Pastor Alabi expressed optimism that the number of participating schools would increase in the coming years.
In addition to the award distribution, a lecture titled 'Education in a season of japa' was delivered by US Fulbright Scholar Prof. Wole Olaiya. The scholar advised the beneficiaries and other secondary school students to prioritize education, urging them to avoid distractions and focus on building character through learning.
