In a grand celebration of his contributions to education and literature, Basorun Seinde Arogbofa, an elder statesman and revered educator, was honored at the formal presentation of "Tales and Voices: Anthology in Honour of Basorun Seinde Arogbofa." The event, held under the auspices of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Ondo State Chapter, took place on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).

The ceremony, attended by traditional, political, and academic dignitaries, was opened with an outpouring of tributes, led by Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Olaiya Adelami, the governor hailed Arogbofa as a "pillar of literary excellence" whose work and contributions have left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s literary and educational landscape.

The anthology, a collection of essays, poems, and reflections on Arogbofa’s life and legacy, was praised as a testament to his far-reaching influence beyond literature into national development. Governor Aiyedatiwa commended Arogbofa's commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering creativity, describing him as a beacon of excellence for both Ondo State and the nation. He also highlighted the importance of celebrating national icons like Arogbofa during their lifetime, recognizing their contributions to society.

The book's reviewer, Professor Busuyi Mekusi, underscored Arogbofa’s importance in the Nigerian literary canon, describing him as kind-hearted, selfless, and inspiring. He recommended the 229-page anthology for its emotional depth and capacity to ignite inspiration.

FUTA Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, represented by Professor Taiwo Amos, lauded Arogbofa’s immense contributions to literature and education, emphasizing that his works have significantly shaped intellectual discourse in Nigeria. She praised the anthology as a fitting tribute and encouraged students and academics to draw inspiration from Arogbofa’s life and works.

ANA Ondo State Chairman, Mr. Sunday Afolayan, called for increased sponsorship and grassroots support for literary endeavors, while Professor Bayo Aborisade, Chairman of the event's Local Organizing Committee, commended Arogbofa’s role in mentoring young writers and promoting intellectual growth in Nigeria.

In his response, Basorun Arogbofa expressed gratitude for the honor and called on the government to ensure that local literary works are widely patronized. He reaffirmed his commitment to mentoring young writers and promoting literature in Nigeria, drawing inspiration from legendary authors such as Chinua Achebe and Wole Soyinka.

The event was graced by a host of dignitaries, including Afenifere Leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti, representatives of the Ondo State Commissioner of Education, and Olubaka of Oka Kingdom.
