FCHDK Concludes Three-Day Pre-Qualification Bidding for 2026 Appropriation Act Projects
The Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa (FCHDK), has successfully concluded its three-day pre-qualification bidding exercise for projects captured under the 2026 Appropriation Act.
The exercise, which commenced on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, was structured into different procurement categories. The first day focused on Consultancy Services, the second day on Goods Procurement, while the final day, Thursday, June 4, 2026, focused on Works, bringing the pre-qualification bidding process to a successful close.
Speaking at the closing session, the Acting Provost, Dr. Umar A. Umar, represented by the Deputy Provost, Dr. Ibrahim Isiaka, commended the Procurement Unit for the professional manner in which the exercise was conducted. He praised the commitment of the officers involved and officially declared the final session open.
The Head of Procurement Unit, Malam Adamu Abubakar, subsequently presented the bids received for works projects. These included the construction of streetlights, construction of classroom blocks at selected locations, and other infrastructure projects approved under the 2026 Appropriation Act. He further informed participants that the Tender Board and Evaluation Committee would conclude their assessment within two weeks and communicate the outcome to the prospective contractors.

Representatives of the contracting firms once again expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, describing the process as transparent, fair, and in line with established procurement guidelines.
Also speaking, the College Bursar, Alhaji Abubakar Danladi, who doubles as the Head of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Unit of the College, commended the entire process and described it as transparent, credible, and compliant with due process requirements.
In his closing remarks, the representative of the Acting Provost advised prospective contractors to ensure that all awarded projects are executed in accordance with the approved specifications and contractual obligations. He emphasized the importance of maintaining adequate documentation and evidence of project execution to enable contractors account for their activities whenever required by oversight and anti-corruption agencies such as the ICPC and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Delivering the vote of thanks, the Chief Librarian of the College, Malam Balarabe Idi, expressed appreciation to the Procurement Unit and all stakeholders for their dedication to ensuring a successful exercise. He noted that the College's increasing budgetary allocations compared to some sister institutions could be attributed to the transparency, accountability, and credibility demonstrated by the Procurement Unit in the management of public resources.
The successful completion of the three-day exercise further demonstrates the commitment of the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa, to transparency, accountability, due process, and good governance in the execution of government-funded projects and institutional development initiatives.
