The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bar Nyesome Wike, delivered the keynote address at the 2026 Distinguished Personality Lecture Series at the University of Abuja, stressing that committed and visionary leadership is key to achieving meaningful national development.

Speaking on the theme, "Exemplary Political Leadership on Infrastructural Development in Nigeria," Wike urged scholars, students, policymakers, and young Nigerians to play active roles in building a democratic and well-governed nation.

Professor Aminu Ibrahim Gusau, Director of Organisational Support at the EFCC and chairman of the event, highlighted that transformative leadership is measured by the delivery of democratic dividends, emphasizing that responsible citizenship is essential for good governance.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, described the lecture series as a platform for advancing intellectual engagement on national issues, including leadership, social welfare, and sustainable infrastructural development.

The event also featured the presentation of an award to Minister Wike for his notable contributions to infrastructural development in the FCT. The award was presented by Professor Mutiullah Olasupo, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and convener of the lecture, in recognition of Wike’s purposeful leadership.
