Fed Poly Nasarawa notice on appointment of overseer

Following the expiration of the tenure of Dr. (Esv) Abdullahi A. Ahmed (January, 2018- December, 2023) as Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Dr. Obarakpo Samuel James, at a Management Meeting held on Tuesday, 2nd January, 2024, has been appointed to oversee the affairs of the Polytechnic pending further directive from the Federal Ministry of Education to that effect.

Dr. Obarakpo Samuel James was born on 3rd September, 1962 and hails from Ughelli-North Local Government Area of Delta State. He assumed duty on 15th August, 1994 as Lecturer II in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. He is a holder of B.Ed (1985), M.Sc. (2007) and PhD (2016) degrees in Mathematics from the University of Benin, University of Jos and Nasarawa State University, Keffi respectively. He rose to the rank of Chief Lecturer on 1" January, 2013 and a registered member of the following professional bodies: Mathematical Association of Nigerian (MAN); Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN); and Nigerian Mathematical Society (NMS).

To his credit, he has scholarly publications in reputable journals as well as presentation of papers at conferences, seminars and workshops. Over the years, his professional expertise was brought to bear having served as Head of Department, Mathematics and Statistics (2009-2014), Dean, School of Applied Sciences (2009-2014) and Director, NASPoly Consult (2014-2022).

As a pointer to his administrative skills and background, the 9th Governing Council at its 5th Regular Meeting held on Wednesday, 15th June, 2022 approved his appointment as Deputy Rector, Academic.
