Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas Bonny has initiated discussions with the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) on a potential partnership aimed at strengthening professional training, capacity development, and industry-aligned administrative systems within the institution.

The engagement took place on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, when the management of the polytechnic, led by its Rector, Dr. Victor Okolobah, received a delegation from the Nigerian Institute of Management. The visiting team included the Rivers State Branch Chairman, Victor Anele, Dr. Austine Ihaza, and Ibrahim Lasisi.
The visit forms part of NIM’s broader strategy of collaborating with tertiary institutions across Nigeria to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical management standards. The institute focuses on capacity building, curriculum enhancement, human capital development, and structured professional training for institutional efficiency.
According to the delegation, the proposed partnership is driven by the Rector’s leadership approach, particularly his emphasis on staff welfare, dialogue-driven administration, recognition of excellence, and institutional unity—qualities the institute considers essential for effective collaboration and sustainable development.
Victor Okolobah expressed appreciation for the engagement and reaffirmed the institution’s readiness to build strategic alliances with professional bodies and corporate organisations capable of contributing to institutional growth.
He noted that the polytechnic remains open to partnerships that will enhance academic delivery, administrative efficiency, and professional development opportunities for both staff and students. He also welcomed the proposal for the establishment of an institutional NIM chapter within the polytechnic, describing it as a step in the right direction for structured management development.
The engagement is expected to progress into a formal framework that will define areas of collaboration, including training programmes, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives tailored to the needs of the institution.

The development was confirmed in a statement by Anthony Ogbe (MCAI), SAR/Public Relations Officer of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas Bonny.
