Federal University Lokoja has emphasised the importance of professionalism, precision, and continuous learning in university administration during its 10th Registry Seminar Series held on April 21, 2026.

The seminar focused on strengthening the skills of university administrators in minute and report writing as part of efforts to improve institutional efficiency and service delivery.

Speaking at the event, the Registrar of the university, Rebecca Okojie, described the Registry as the administrative backbone of the institution, stressing that the effectiveness of any university system largely depends on the competence and professionalism of its officers.

She urged participants to continuously develop their skills and remain relevant in a rapidly evolving administrative environment.

“You must define yourself by what you can do,” she said, while also stressing the importance of lifelong learning in professional development.

According to her, administrative excellence is built on structure, discipline, and adherence to guiding principles rather than chance.

Rebecca Okojie also disclosed that approval had been secured for the commencement of an Annual Registry Lecture, which she said would serve as a platform for professional engagement and administrative development within the university system.

The seminar, themed “Understanding the Requisite Skills of Minute and Report Writing for Effective Service Delivery by Professional University Administrators,” was delivered by Senior Deputy Registrar, Shamaki Nuhu Kaje.

During the presentation, he highlighted critical stages involved in effective documentation, including pre-meeting preparation, attentiveness during meetings, and prompt drafting of reports and minutes after meetings to ensure accuracy and timely communication.

He noted that properly prepared minutes and reports remain essential tools for institutional accountability, decision-making, and efficient administrative coordination within the university system.
