The Federal Government of Nigeria has revealed plans to unbundle the 115 Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) into separate basic and secondary schools. This announcement was made by Dr. Yusuf Sununu, Minister of State for Education, during the Annual General Meeting of Unity College Principals in Abuja on Tuesday, September 17.

Dr. Sununu explained that this move aligns with the National Policy on Education (NPE) and aims to enhance funding, improve infrastructure, address teachers' welfare, and create employment opportunities.

The unbundling initiative is also intended to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among students, preparing them for self-reliance and contributing to national development.
