The Federal Government has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for Corps Members to N77,000, effective from July 2024. The increment aligns with the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.

This announcement was detailed in a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, signed by Chairman Mr. Ekpo Nta, and dated September 25, 2024. The approval follows an advocacy visit by NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, who had sought improved welfare for Corps Members.

Prior to the increment, Corps Members received a monthly allowance of N33,000. The NYSC DG expressed gratitude to the Federal Government, stating that the increase will provide relief and further motivate Corps Members in their national service.
