Former Polytechnic Lecturer Convicted of N6 million Fraud

A former lecturer at the Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Kebbi State,Muhammed Sani Nuhu has been convicted of committing fraud to the tune of N6 million Naira.

A former lecturer at the Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Kebbi State,Muhammed Sani Nuhu has been convicted of committing fraud to the tune of N6 million Naira.

According to findings by Myschoolnews, the dismissed lecturer was convicted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for converting into personal use the sums of N2 million in 2015 and N4.1 million in 2016.

 

The money was revealed to have been a special grant awarded to the then lecturer to attend an international conference in Aberdeen, United Kingdom and a first tranche of payment given to him a Doctor of Philosophy programme at the University of Technology, Malaysia respectively.

 

The former lecturer was found guilty of three of the four charges leveled against him, and was sentenced to a five-year jail term on each of the charges which are to run concurrently .

 

The convict is also required to surrender the sum of N6.5 million, being proceeds from the crime to the Federal Government.
