Fourteen UNILORIN Students Face Expulsion Over Exam Misconduct
The University of Ilorin has expelled fourteen students involved in examination malpractice. These students span from 100 level to 500 level and cut across different departments and Faculties.
In a decisive move against academic misconduct, the University of Ilorin has expelled 14 students, including those at the 500 level, for their involvement in proven cases of examination malpractice. The university’s spokesperson, Kunle Akogun, made this announcement, highlighting the institution’s commitment to maintaining academic integrity.
The decision to expel the students was endorsed by the university’s management, following recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during its 219th meeting held between January 10 and 11, 2024.

The affected students come from various academic levels, spanning across 400, 500, 300, and 100 levels, representing different faculties and departments within the university. Specifically, they were enrolled in the Faculties/Departments of Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries, Agriculture/Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Arts/Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, Communication and Information Sciences (CIS)/Library and Information Science, CIS/Telecommunication Science, Education/Adult and Primary Education Studies, and the Department of Engineering and Tech (Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering), as well as Life Science/Zoology.

Akogun emphasized the university’s unwavering stance against academic misconduct and urged all students to prioritize ethical conduct throughout their academic journey. The expulsion serves as a stern reminder that integrity and honesty are fundamental values in the pursuit of knowledge and excellence.
