The Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) hosted a high-level delegation from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, as senior officials paid a courtesy visit to Vice-Chancellor Professor Bayode Isaiah Popoola, commending the university’s sustained partnership with the Corps.

The delegation, led by Unit Commander Abiodun Ogunwumi of RS11.24 Ondo Town Unit Command, included Ademola Adegboyega (Public Relations Officer), Ajayi O.A (Head, Unit Intelligence), and B.A. Akinsipe (Staff Officer, Administration). During the visit, the FRSC praised AFUED’s consistent support in promoting road safety initiatives, describing the collaboration as a model of effective institutional synergy.
As part of the engagement, the FRSC announced an enlightenment programme scheduled for 4th December 2025 on campus. The event aims to educate students, staff, and stakeholders on critical road safety practices, particularly during the ember months, which historically see increased traffic incidents. The Unit Commander highlighted recent accidents in operational zones, underlining the urgent need for intensified awareness campaigns and strict adherence to traffic regulations.

Responding, VC Prof. Popoola expressed deep appreciation for the Corps’ commitment and reaffirmed AFUED’s readiness to support joint initiatives that enhance safety in the University and surrounding communities. He further highlighted ongoing traffic and safety concerns, including congestion at Lipakala Junction and excessive speeding by okada riders along Laje Road, near the University’s second gate.
Prof. Popoola emphasized the importance of reorientation and professional training for FRSC officers to ensure fairness, decorum, and public trust in their operations. Strengthening both public enlightenment campaigns and internal discipline within the Corps, he noted, would enhance road safety outcomes and reinforce the credibility of FRSC interventions.

Unit Commander Ogunwumi acknowledged the Vice-Chancellor’s observations, assuring that the concerns would be communicated to relevant authorities for timely action. Both parties reiterated their commitment to deepening collaboration, promoting road safety, and safeguarding all stakeholders within and around the University community.
