FUE Zaria Mourns as Faculty of Education Dean, Dr. Ramatu Tinja, Passes Away

It is with deep sorrow and total submission to the will of Allah (SWT) that the Federal University of Education, Zaria, announces the passing of Dr. Ramatu Tinja, an Associate Professor and the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education. 

Dr. Tinja passed away on the evening of Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Kano. Her sudden departure has cast a shadow of grief over the academic community, where she was revered as a pillar of excellence and a visionary administrator. 

Dr. Ramatu Tinja was a distinguished scholar whose career was defined by a profound commitment to educational development in Nigeria. As the Acting Dean, she spearheaded several initiatives aimed at:

Faculty Growth: Modernizing the curriculum and enhancing research output within the Faculty of Education.

Mentorship: Inspiring generations of students and younger academics with her rigorous yet compassionate approach to teaching.

Institutional Progress: Playing a critical role in the university’s recent transition and its drive for global ranking and visibility. 

The University management described her contributions as "unforgettable," noting that her leadership significantly strengthened the faculty's standing among specialized universities of education. 

Colleagues and students have begun paying tributes, describing her as a dedicated academic who balanced administrative firmness with a deep sense of humanity.
