FUKashere Hosts Conference on Prophetic Models for National Development

The Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, has called for a return to value-based leadership as a solution to Nigeria’s leadership challenges, emphasizing that the Prophetic Model of Leadership offers enduring principles for sustainable human development.

Professor Yauta made this call while declaring open a conference organized by the Department of Arabic and the Department of Islamic Studies, Federal University of Kashere, in collaboration with NUSRET Educational and Cultural Company Ltd., Nigeria.

The conference, themed “The Prophetic Model of Character: Prophetic Style of Leadership for Sustainable Human Development,” was held at the Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies, Federal University of Kashere.

Serving as Chairman of the Conference, Professor Yauta, in his remarks, highlighted the relevance of the leadership values exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (SAW), including integrity, justice, compassion, accountability, and service to humanity, noting that these values remain critical in addressing contemporary leadership and governance deficits.

According to him, Nigeria’s leadership challenges can only be meaningfully addressed when leaders consciously model their conduct after the Prophetic example, stressing that sustainable development is impossible without moral leadership anchored on ethical responsibility.

He enjoined participants to engage deeply in discussions and critically examine the nation’s leadership deficiencies, emphasizing that the solution lies in understanding and applying the Holy Prophet’s leadership style and character in modern governance and societal development.

The conference attracted academics, scholars, and students from within and outside the university community and featured insightful presentations and discussions on applying Prophetic leadership principles to contemporary social, political, and economic realities.
