Rilwan Amos Yakubu, a proud alumnus of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), continues to make his alma mater proud through his impactful personal community development project in Anambra State, where he is empowering youths with skills in digital videography and photography.
A graduate of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Rilwan Amos Yakubu, is making waves in Anambra State, Nigeria, where he has been spearheading a remarkable personal development project during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year. Rilwan, an English and Literature graduate, dedicated three months of his service to organizing intensive training sessions in digital videography and photography for students from several institutions in Okpuno, including Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and various secondary schools and vocational institutes.
The sessions, which involved 60 students, resulted in 8 participants being selected for further training, with one outstanding student set to emerge as the overall best after an additional month of mentorship. This initiative, aimed at equipping youths with entrepreneurial skills, has been widely praised by the community and stakeholders.
During an address at the closing ceremony, Mrs. Blessing Ekene Iruma, the State Coordinator of the NYSC, lauded Rilwan's contributions to national development. She emphasized how his exposure to NYSC's Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program helped him empower youths in digital literacy, an essential skill in today’s economy.
Rilwan's employer and mentor, Rev. Fr. Robert Aniagboso, Director of Fidel Media, also commended his dedication and promised to employ the best out of the 8 students shortlisted for extended studies at the media company.
The Federal University Lokoja community has expressed immense pride in Rilwan's accomplishments, recognizing him as a shining ambassador of the institution. FUL continues to follow the progress of its graduates, who exemplify the university's mission to shape future leaders.
