The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) celebrated its third annual end-of-year gathering, recognizing the contributions of staff and principal officers with awards and commendations.
The event, held recently, saw Vice-Chancellor Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman present awards to principal officers for their dedication to the university's development. Staff from the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and other units were also honored for their exceptional service.
In his address, Abdul Rahman highlighted the significance of the event as an opportunity to reflect on the university’s progress, appreciate God for unity and peace, and celebrate staff achievements in 2024.
Professor Amos Ambo, chairman of the organizing committee, welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of fostering unity and friendship among staff.
Dignitaries at the event included Dr. John Mamman, Nasarawa State Commissioner of Education, members of the FULafia Governing Council, and representatives of staff unions such as ASUU, SSANU, and NAAT. Officials from the Federal University, Lokoja, also attended to observe FULafia’s innovative welfare initiatives.
The celebration featured cultural performances by the Nasarawa State Cultural Troupe and FULafia students from the Theatre and Media Arts Department. Highlights included a donation of a cow by the Vice-Chancellor to the university’s Christian community and a N200,000 donation by Dr. Mamman.
