The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has charged staff of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) to remain focused in the discharge of their duties. 

The vice-chancellor gave the charge at the maiden get-together of the Directorate which took place at the Old Senate Chamber, Permanent Site Campus of the University. 

He commended the staff of the Directorate for their hard work and commitment to the project of positively projecting the image of the University.

He said: “I want you to know that whatever we were able to achieve in this University today, your Directorate has contributed to it."

Abdul Rahman also appreciated the teamwork and collaborative spirit of the Directorate’s staff, noting that they were applying the principle of objectivity in the discharge of their duties

He called on the Directorate’s staff to collaborate with the Department of Mass Communication of the University for the purposes of training and retraining of both the staff and students. 

The vice-chancellor assured the staff that his administration would continue to provide the needed training and equipment to enhance their capacity and deliver efficient services to the University.

In his welcome address, the Head of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Abubakar Ibrahim, said that the event was organised to thank the

vice-chancellor for upgrading what was formerly known as the information and public relations unit to a Directorate and for helping its staff to discharge their assigned responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

"It was to ensure that the department performed its responsibilities, optimally, that the vice-chancellor upgraded the unit to a directorate, provided it with some equipment and trained its staff, he said.

Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the Management and other workers of the University for their support to the Directorate, saying that the Directorate would not have recorded the successes it has achieved if not for them.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Registrar of the University, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, and the University Librarian, Professor Abiodun Iyoro, both commended the staff for the good work they were doing for the University.

They also commended the cordial working relationship existing among the staff of the Directorate, encouraging them to continue in that spirit. 

The event also had in attendance Mr Musa Agbawu, the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sambo Muhammad Hudu, Dean of Student Affairs, and Mr Basir Ozomata, the vice-chancellor’s personal secretary.
