The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has inaugurated the newly established Professors Forum.

The Forum, chaired by the Vice-chancellor, is the first of its kind in the University and it is, mainly saddled with the responsibility of making administration of the University smooth and inclusive.

Inaugurating the Forum at a brief ceremony that took place at the Senate Chamber, Permanent Site Campus of the University, the vice-chancellor said that the Forum is expected to, among other things, help in the smooth administration of the University, pointing out that as the University continues to expand and the number of professors increases, there was a need for them to come together to regulate their conduct and improve the quality of services in the University.

He called on the professors to be productive and promote their institutional interest and national interests.

The vice-chancellor reminded his colleagues that professorship is an enviable rank, saying it is the result of a long academic journey that involved experiences in teaching, research, community service and financial expenditures. 

“It also includes the publication of papers, engaging in workshops conferences, prayer, endurance, hard work, and different stages of assessment,” he said.

While urging them to value and sustain their position with high moral standards, he also encouraged them to prepare themselves for leadership positions at all times. 

Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman advised them to sensitise and educate those around them and avoid tribalism and religious bias in their day-to-day engagements with people to promote the image of the University.

The registrar of the University is to serve as secretary of the Forum.
