Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has expanded its campus healthcare capacity with the addition of two fully equipped ambulances to the University Health Centre, reinforcing emergency response and medical service delivery for students and staff.

The ambulances were presented on February 2, 2026, by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, as part of ongoing efforts by the University Management to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, particularly during high-pressure academic periods such as examinations when medical emergencies tend to rise.
During the handover, Prof. Kehinde praised the Acting Director of University Health Services, Dr. Oluseyi Anjorin, alongside health personnel, for their professionalism and consistent commitment to duty. He stressed that the effectiveness of the investment depended on discipline and accountability, directing all drivers and health personnel attached to the ambulances to strictly observe operational guidelines and ensure responsible handling of the vehicles to guarantee availability for genuine emergencies.

Responding on behalf of the Health Centre, Dr. Anjorin expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and University Management for the timely intervention. He confirmed that ambulance drivers had been thoroughly briefed and cautioned to maintain professionalism while adhering strictly to safety and operational protocols.
Dr. Anjorin disclosed that the Health Centre previously operated two serviceable ambulances, and with the latest acquisition, the total fleet now stands at four, with three fully operational and ready to respond to medical emergencies both within and outside the campus.
He underscored the importance of the development, noting that medical emergencies typically spike during examination periods. Records from the most recent examination session showed that the Health Centre managed approximately 12 referral cases, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced emergency medical support.

Dr. Anjorin commended the University Management for its proactive and preventive approach to healthcare delivery, emphasizing that prompt access to emergency medical services remained essential to protecting the health and well-being of the FUNAAB community.
