FUNAAB DVC, Development Tours Zoo Park, Inaugurates Mini Gazebo
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) of FUNAAB, Prof. Kola Adebayo, visited the university's Zoo Park as part of his tour of departments and units under his supervision.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Kola Adebayo, has reaffirmed the institution's commitment to the continuous development of its Zoo Park during an official visit. As part of his tour of various Departments, Directorates, Centres, and Units under his supervision, Prof. Adebayo commissioned a newly constructed mini Gazebo at the Zoo Park.
During the visit, Prof. Adebayo lauded the Zoo Park’s expanding online presence, its well-maintained environment, and the outstanding progress recorded under the leadership of the Director, Prof. Sammy Sam-Wobo. He emphasized key achievements, including an impressive over 80% increase in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and notable improvements in animal welfare.
Reaffirming the University Management’s dedication to the Zoo Park, the DVC, Development, commended the staff for their unwavering commitment, which has significantly enhanced the facility’s visibility and upkeep. He acknowledged the transformations that have bolstered public awareness and improved the general aesthetics of the park.
In response, the Director of the Zoo Park, Prof. Sam-Wobo, expressed gratitude for the steadfast support of the DVC, Development, highlighting his crucial role as a top management official in fostering the park's growth. He attributed the park’s remarkable progress to the dedication and diligence of his team over the past year.
Prof. Sam-Wobo also outlined some pressing challenges confronting the Zoo Park, including the need for a stable electricity supply, the acquisition of iconic animal species such as zebras, giraffes, and elephants, the installation of CCTV cameras for enhanced security and real-time monitoring, and a motorised mower to manage vegetation growth.
A key moment of the visit was a tour of the proposed site for the anticipated arrival of an elephant, followed by the official commissioning of the Gazebo, which was personally constructed by Prof. Sam-Wobo as a legacy project. He urged the DVC, Development to facilitate similar initiatives for the continued enhancement of the Zoo Park.
