FUNAAB VC Reaffirms 's Readiness for 2026 Teach For Nigeria Fellowship Programme
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Babatunde Kehinde, has reaffirmed the University’s commitment to providing an enhanced experience for participants of the Teach For Nigeria (TFN) Fellowship Programme.
Prof. Kehinde gave the assurance on July 13, 2026, while receiving a delegation from Teach For Nigeria on a courtesy visit to his office. He assured the delegation of improved welfare, security, and facilities ahead of this year’s exercise.

The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the University’s Planning Committee, headed by the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Festus Adeosun, commenced preparations early, drawing lessons from last year’s programme. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Olusegun Idowu, has been assigned to monitor the committee’s activities, while the Vice-Chancellor will personally oversee the entire process.
He revealed that renovation and upgrading of hostel facilities are already underway. A Welfare Sub-Committee, chaired by the Dean, College of Biosciences (COLBIOS), Professor Iyabode Kehinde, has also been constituted to coordinate the welfare of the Fellows throughout their stay.
Highlighting infrastructural improvements, Prof. Kehinde noted that FUNAAB now enjoys near 24-hour electricity supply through its solar power plant. He added that the ongoing hostel renovations will guarantee uninterrupted water supply, including to upper floors.
On security, he disclosed that the University has strengthened collaboration with the Harmony Police Division and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), with armed personnel strategically deployed across campus.
The Vice-Chancellor further stated that the University Health Centre has been upgraded with additional Doctors and Nurses to provide round-the-clock medical services for the Fellows and the University Community.
He also noted that the University’s stable academic calendar will support the programme, as the 2025/2026 Academic Session is scheduled to end on July 23, 2026, after which students and most academic staff will proceed on vacation, creating a more conducive environment for Fellowship activities.
Prof. Kehinde expressed confidence in the success of the programme and pledged FUNAAB’s full cooperation to ensure a rewarding and memorable experience for all TFN Fellows.
Also present were members of the committee including Deputy Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Matthew Wheto; Principal Assistant Registrar, VC’s Office, Mr. Adekunle Adebiyi; Principal Internal Auditor, Mr. Victor Enilolobo; and Mr. Godswill Olatunde.
The TFN delegation included Operations Director, Mr. Yusuf Zwalle; Ag. Head, Training and Leadership Development Unit, Mr. Jonathan Obiaraije; Senior Coaches, Mr. Sunday Daniel, Miss Sophie Onwubuariri, Mr. Joseph Ogbonnaya, and Mrs. Jemima Nnamdi-Iweha; as well as School Leadership Development Officers, Mr. Ijeoma Okoye and Mr. Moses Taiwo.
