The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has inaugurated the committee for its 40th anniversary celebration, marking the beginning of preparations for the milestone event scheduled for January 2028.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, at the inauguration ceremony, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olusegun Idowu, congratulated the chairman and members of the committee on their appointment and charged them with organizing a memorable celebration that reflects the University's achievements over the past four decades.

Prof. Idowu commended the committee chairman, Prof. Adeniyi Olayanju, for his wealth of experience, particularly his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University. He expressed confidence in the committee's ability to deliver a befitting anniversary celebration that would further enhance FUNAAB's reputation before formally inaugurating the committee to begin work immediately.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Prof. Olayanju thanked the University Management for the confidence reposed in its members, describing the institution's 40th anniversary as a significant milestone worthy of celebration.

He noted that FUNAAB's impressive global rankings and achievements over the last four decades reflect its remarkable growth and impact. According to him, the diverse composition of the committee, which includes experienced academics, administrators and professionals, positions it to successfully execute its assignment.

Prof. Olayanju assured the University Management that the committee would diligently carry out its responsibilities, adding that members viewed themselves as stakeholders committed to preserving and advancing the University's legacy.

He also disclosed that strategic planning had already commenced and that the committee would combine physical and virtual meetings to meet its timelines, particularly its mandate to deliver key aspects of its assignment within the first three months.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo.

The committee comprises Prof. Olufemi Ojo (College of Veterinary Medicine), Prof. Adegoke Bakare (College of Food Science and Human Ecology), Prof. Mutiu Busari (College of Plant Science and Crop Production), Prof. Oluwakemi Irekhore (Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu (SERVICOM Unit), Dr. Abdussobur Salaam (Senate and Admissions), Mr. Olurotimi Fasunwon (Directorate of Information and Communication Technology Services), Dr. Emmanuel Bankole (Directorate of University Farms), Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide (Acting Head, Directorate of Public Relations), Mrs. Oluremi Adeleke (Directorate of Internal Audit), Mr. Julius Sonde (Bursary Department), while Mr. Olajide Oduyemi of Senate and Admissions serves as Secretary to the committee.
