The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is deeply saddened to announce the tragic loss of Miss Christianah Idowu, a 300-Level student of Pure and Applied Botany at the College of Biosciences (COLBIOS). Miss Idowu was abducted and senselessly murdered, leaving the entire university community heartbroken.

In a statement, the university management expressed profound sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to Miss Idowu’s family, friends, and the entire student body. “The news of her abduction and senseless murder has left us all heartbroken, and the entire FUNAAB community mourns her painful passing,” the statement read.

To demonstrate unwavering support, a delegation led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, and the Student Union President, Comrade Ibraheem Adeyemi, along with other university officials, visited Miss Idowu’s family on September 6, 2024. The delegation met with the bereaved mother, offering the university’s heartfelt condolences and comfort during this difficult time.

The delegation also visited the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, urging the Nigeria Police Force to expedite their investigation and ensure that justice is served. “This act of violence must not go unanswered,” the university emphasized.

As the FUNAAB community grieves, the university management stands in solidarity with all who were touched by Miss Idowu’s life. They urge everyone to stay strong and united in the face of this tragedy. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Miss Christianah Idowu,” the statement concluded.
