FUNAAB Students Briefed Ahead of NYSC Mobilisation

Prospective corps members of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) have been sensitised on the procedures and requirements for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilisation during a pre-mobilisation briefing held on March 11, 2026, at the Mahmood Yakubu Lecture Theatre.

The briefing, organised to guide graduating students through the NYSC process, provided information on registration procedures, eligibility requirements, and expectations for the service year.

Speaking at the event, the Ag. Director of NYSC South West Area Office 2, Ogun State, Mrs. Winifred Ngozi, explained that the scheme was established after the Nigerian Civil War to foster national unity, reconciliation, and integration among Nigerian youths. She noted that the programme deploys graduates to different parts of the country to promote cultural understanding and contribute to national development.

Mrs. Ngozi also described the scheme as a platform for personal growth and national service, encouraging prospective corps members to take the process seriously and approach their service year with commitment and integrity.

She emphasised the significance of the pre-mobilisation stage, during which tertiary institutions submit lists of eligible graduates to the NYSC for verification. According to her, prospective corps members must carefully confirm their names and personal details on the mobilisation list and ensure that their academic records are accurate before proceeding with online registration.

The Ag. Director stressed the importance of providing accurate information on the NYSC portal, specifically details such as date of birth, course of study, functional email addresses, and phone numbers, to prevent delays or discrepancies in Call-up Letters and other official documents.

Mrs. Ngozi added that the NYSC has continued to contribute significantly to national development through initiatives such as community development service and collaborations with agencies like the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in election duties.

She was accompanied by members of her team, including Mr. Oketade Ifeolu, Assistant Director, Human Resources Management Department; Mr. Fadahunsi Oluwatosin, Personal Assistant to the Director; and Miss Ibironke Abiola, ICT Schedule Officer.
