FUOYE PhD Student Wins DAAD Research Grant to Germany

A PhD student of the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Mr. Abdulhakeem Olasupo, has been awarded a prestigious research scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) under the Research Grants in Germany Programme for 2026.

According to an official communication from DAAD, Mr. Olasupo was selected for the scholarship following the recommendation of the responsible selection committee. The award will support his research stay in Germany for a period of six months, further strengthening international research collaboration and academic exchange. 

Mr. Olasupo is currently a PhD student in the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, conducting his doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. D. Malomo and Dr. Sunday Abimbade.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, expressed delight over the achievement, describing it as a testament to the growing research strength and global relevance of the University.

Prof. Ogunwole commended the student for his dedication and academic excellence, noting that the international recognition reflects the quality of mentorship within the institution’s academic community. He also applauded the Department of Chemistry, the Ag. Head of the Department, Dr. Lekan Faboya, and the supervisors for their commitment to nurturing globally competitive researchers.

The DAAD Research Grants Programme supports outstanding postgraduate researchers from around the world, enabling them to conduct research in Germany and foster global academic partnerships.
