FUTA Professor Funmi Olabode-Sawe Inducted into Nigerian Academy of Letters

FUTA Professor Funmi Olabode-Sawe Inducted into Nigerian Academy of Letters

Professor Funmi Olabode-Sawe, a scholar in Applied Linguistics and Terminology at the Institute of Technology-Enhanced Learning and Digital Humanities (INTEDH) of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has been inducted into the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL). The induction took place on August 9, 2024, at the University of Lagos during the Twenty-Sixth Convocation and Investiture of New Fellows.

The Nigerian Academy of Letters is the apex body for arts and literature in Nigeria, dedicated to advancing scholarship and public interest in the humanities.

Professor Olabode-Sawe earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English Language from the University of Ilorin. She joined FUTA in 1990 as an Assistant Lecturer, advancing through the ranks to become a Professor in 2017. She completed her PhD in Linguistics at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, in 2010.

Her academic career includes a sabbatical year at Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, and over 42 publications in various academic journals and conference proceedings. Professor Olabode-Sawe has over 32 years of experience in Applied Linguistics and currently teaches English for Academic Purposes at FUTA.
