On September 3, 2024, three executive members of SCIENCOON, an initiative by students of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji. They were warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor, who commended their initiative and community service efforts.

Professor Oladiji praised the students for their advocacy visits to secondary schools in the Akure area, where they demonstrate real scientific experiments to inspire interest in Science, Technology, and Mathematics among young students. “Your efforts in promoting science education and engaging with the community are truly commendable,” she stated.

Joining the Vice-Chancellor during the courtesy visit were Mr. Adegbenro Adebanjo, Director of Corporate Communication, and Mrs. Uloma Iremiren, Assistant Director of Media.

SCIENCOON Club is known for organizing an annual Science Festival, where leaders from the scientific and business communities guide students on preparing for life after school. The 2024 edition of the festival is scheduled for this September, with preparations underway to ensure it is an impactful event.
