Godfrey Okoye University Honors Dr. Cordelia Ndubuka with Heartfelt Valedictory Service
Godfrey Okoye University held a heartfelt valedictory service on Tuesday to honor Dr. Cordelia Ndubuka, the pioneering Head of the Department of Nursing Science, who recently passed away. The service, held at the Chief Anthony Mogbo Auditorium, celebrated Dr. Ndubuka's significant contributions to the nursing school and the broader nursing community.
On Tuesday, the Godfrey Okoye University community gathered at the Chief Anthony Mogbo Auditorium in Ugwuomu to pay tribute to the late Dr. Cordelia Ndubuka, the esteemed pioneer Head of the Department of Nursing Science. The valedictory service was a poignant celebration of Dr. Ndubuka's life and her substantial contributions to the university and the nursing profession.
Reverend Sister Professor MarySylvia Nwachukwu, speaking on behalf of Vice-Chancellor Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, described Dr. Ndubuka's passing as a profound loss to both the university and the broader nursing community. She praised Dr. Ndubuka for her outstanding contributions to the development of the nursing school, her unwavering dedication to excellence, and her exemplary professionalism. Despite the sadness of her departure, attendees found solace in the enduring legacy she left behind.
Tributes were also paid by Professor Frank Akpuaka, Provost of the College of Medicine, and Professor Chika Ugochukwu, Head of the Department of Nursing, who both highlighted Dr. Ndubuka’s exceptional work ethic and her relentless pursuit of excellence.
The Ndubuka family, represented by Mr. Kelechi Ndubuka, expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the touching tribute, acknowledging the deep respect and affection their mother received from the university community.
The service was attended by several distinguished members of the university, including Professor Modesta Egiyi, University Bursar, and Dr. Juliana Iwu-James, University Librarian, along with other principal officers.
